Just Another Road..

Image
http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/ru2.patil/5/1411307235/tpod.html I didn't want this Sunday to be just another Sunday hence decided to get up early and take a drive to city outskirts.. Pune is really blessed to have picturesque locations around the city just on an hours drive. So here, we started with Puneri Sunday breakfast.. Khari Pattice... left towards Sinhagad road and stopped at Khadakwasla Dam. It was 8:00 am and people were already rushing to this place. Looking at the serene water, clicking some picture there was hardly any activity to do here. The dam was full due to recent rains and people had already occupied available places to sit.   Khadakwasla Going ahead was a bad idea as we knew that the road ahead would be full of people by now. So we just took a right turn which would take us towards another side of the dam. Just after we turned away from the main road, the bridge above the flow of water from the dam gates, was full with vehicles and people....

I am a lady.. who can drive a car!

“Madam! Please park your vehicle in a straight line.” He exclaimed to my surprise. I had never heard this parking guy at my office speak to me before. I get out of the car to see how it is parked and it is (although not perfect) in line with the SUV parked besides with ample space for a person to walk between two vehicles and to open the doors. I question him, “And how much more straight?” and he answers,”It wasn’t straight, last Friday.” This answer raised many questions in my mind. Do I cause inconvenience to others by not parking straight? Do I do this always? Or was it just once? Do these people who manage parking, often discuss about my driving? Should I demote, to my two-wheeler? Although I wanted to be brave, I lost a bit of my confidence that day. On the way back home, in the evening, I remembered how I learnt driving. Starting with just working with clutch and gear of a standstill vehicle then slowly moving to ignition of the vehicle, I was observing and learning new ...

My Native is the Best!

My Native is the Best! Then why did I come here ? Incident 1:  Location: State Bank of India, Home loan office, Pune.  I was sitting on the chair waiting for our turn, to sign certain papers. Another man came rushing out of the office in the waiting area. It seemed he was in search of something. He then enquired on the enquiry counter if he could purchase some stamps which he had missed to put on his documents. The man on the counter humbly informed him in negative saying bank does not have these stamps and you need to purchase them from notary office. Another elderly person was accompanying this person who, I suppose, was his father. His father asked the same question again to the person on the counter and insisted that he checks his table. After a second NO, the elderly person said " Humare 'Patna' mein to bank mein hi stamp milta hai " ( In Patna, we get these stamps in the Bank ). His tone intended slight humiliation to the banks in Pune, rather the system i...

Transforming Chrysalis- emerging out of comfort zone

Image
Recently, one of my friends posted on a watsapp group, “I am getting bored and send me ideas to entertain myself.” We all on the group proposed several ideas and she was entertained for a while. But this thread was entangled with my thoughts. Why do we get bored? Bored of routine? Bored of eating regular food? Bored of driving the same way to office? Bored of watching same TV show for years? Enough!  Atleast, I need change from routine. Magnitude of change matters and this magnitude depend on my ability to move out of my comfort zone. The more I move away from the zone, the more confident I am, to come back to my routine. This change helps me find my place and importance and makes me realize things I could enjoy or I am able to do which I was never aware of. I really love to sit on my comfort couch, watch TV and enjoy my tea in the evening. I am refreshed for an hour or two after that. But I would more enjoy if the tea is served on a hilltop with my friends around. I ...
